About My Clients
You may have survived marginalization experiences or challenging family history, yet you have bouts of overwhelming emotions, or you may notice an undertone of dissatisfaction in life. Perhaps you're not able to take or sustain healthier steps for yourself. My clients are ready to dive into deeper work of improving relational and mental health struggles through uncovering and shifting deep-seated patterns, healing their on-going anxiety, and learning to stand grounded and in integrity.
My Background and Approach
As a 1.5-generation Taiwanese-American immigrant of a single-mom household with very limited financial resources and familial mental health struggles, I have experienced being "othered," to have to first focus on survival and security. Through my own burnout and turning toward more learnings outside of traditional talk therapy, and finding that these work (!), I now integrate mind-body-spirit approaches, including use of Eastern tools such as mindfulness and somatic techniques such as teaching you to use acupressure tapping (clinical Emotional Freedom Techniques) to decrease your triggers. I may also integrate cognitive-behavioral and reconsolidation techniques, interpersonal/relational tools, imagery, Logosynthesis, Internal Family Systems, Brainspotting, and other emotion-focused approaches.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone deserves to be cherished for their unique spirit, to have non-judgmental space to heal, reconnect, and allow their natural selves to grow into the strong, rooted trees that are able to provide shade and fresh air for the community. When we are forced to grow in restricted environments, or we lacked essential caring nourishment, we are forced into survival mode and aren't able to thrive. Often, we adapted living styles that were quite helpful in the past, however that one tool (may be a relational style, may be a work addiction, etc.) is not so effective in different situations. My work is to facilitate your recognition of your adapted tools and strengths, to collaboratively work with you to remove sometimes-unconscious barriers, decrease your triggers, share knowledge, to be a clear mirror when needed, and provide tools so that you learn to live in alignment with your true unique spirit, to be that grounded you with a variety of branches of adaptive skills.
