Trauma, experiences that overwhelm our ability to make sense of, come in all forms. When an experience can't become part of our sense of self it gets walled off and is hard to hold. I work to help people return safely to their traumas and gradually heal from the symptoms of PTSD.
I specialized in working with LGBTQ+ individuals as they process their identity. Whether you are in an early stage of questioning and wondering about your sexual identity or are working with the challenges of living and out queer life, I want to provide support and be alongside you in your journey.

Though all these parts developed at a certain time to help us deal with stress, some of them have reactions that aren't helping us anymore. In IFS we work to develop an understanding of how the parts of you interact, gradually developing a great sense of Self and ability to take self-leadership of your internal world.

Applying an understanding of your whole self invites a deep reconnection of your thinking world, emotions, and body. This bringing together, integration, of the parts of you creates the feeling of being fully alive.
Beginning to slow down and become aware of the present moment is at the core of healing and growing. At first the idea of slowing down to notice our bodies and sensations may seem daunting or overwhelming. I work with you to find safe, tangible ways to stay more present with yourself and develop a kind, compassionate response to whatever you're feeling in this moment. Over time, this can loosen habits and patterns that may no longer be helping you.
When a big change happens it can cause us to reevaluate everything. While these changes can be positive, change brings on a lot of different feelings and thoughts that can feel overwhelming or confusing. I can help you begin to explore your life on the other side of transition, helping you to process and grow.
I am currently receiving advanced training in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy. This therapy focusses heavily on the body and explores how we can understand and work with our nervous systems directly. I find this helpful for everyone, but especially for folks with past trauma and for LGBTQ+ folks who are struggling to feel a connection between their mind and body.
