I believe that we have an abundance of inner resources that, when accessed, will support us in trusting ourselves to move successfully through life's difficulties. Of course, accessing these resources can be easier said then done! Particularly when we are under the consistent influences of the pains from our past and the societal conditioning of, well, always. Thus, the importance of clearing whatever is in our way of seeing how strong, wise, and compassionate we are.
To quote the inimitable Pema Chödrön: “Behind all hardening and tightening and rigidity of the heart, there’s always fear. But if you touch fear, touch that soft spot, you find the vast blue sky. You find that which is ineffable, ungraspable, and unbiased, that which can support and awaken us at any time” (Practicing Peace in Times of War).
