Psychotherapist in New York, NY
Supervised by Michael Beck, LCSW

About My Clients

The approach to psychotherapy is deep, thoughtful, and caring. I work with adults and adolescents navigating challenges related to trauma, chronic illness, relationship struggles, abuse, life and career concerns, and issues around identity and creative expression. I also specialize in helping people recover from religious abuse and coercive control, including survivors of cultic abuse and high-demand groups.

My Background and Approach

My approach is primarily psychodynamic, and includes other therapeutic tools such as trauma-focused cognitive behavior therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, trauma-informed mindfulness, Internal Family Systems, and somatic approaches. Before becoming a psychotherapist, I worked as a neuroscientist, so my therapeutic approaches are informed by experience and expertise in neuroscience. I studied how therapy can change the brain and improve symptoms in people who are struggling with post-traumatic stress disorder. I completed my MSW at Columbia University in New York, and my PhD in Psychology, which focused on cognitive and clinical neuroscience, at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia. I also completed post-graduate study in the psychology of coercive control at the University of Salford in the UK. I am currently continuing my training on trauma-focused therapies at the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy in New York City within their Trauma Division.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe in the power of therapy, including somatic and creative approaches to effectively heal trauma. I also operate from a strengths-based perspective, which means that I want to acknowledge and build on your strengths, and help you grow and expand towards what you authentically are meant to be. The approach is meant to enable you to find a greater sense of yourself and your purpose, to help you find meaning, health and wellbeing.
