Evan Kotler

Since 2006 I have been educating people of all ages both in and outside of the classroom. After 10 years of memorable teaching, my passion lead me to the field of mental health and addictions. While working as a group therapist at various agencies I noticed that barely anyone was talking about sexual concerns, porn addiction, sexual behaviors and non conforming relationship dynamics. I met therapists that became red in the face when clients brought up sex and sexuality. If the clinicians didn't feel comfortable talking about sex, how would clients feel safe to speak up? I started vigorous research, asking deep questions and working with experts in the field of mental health and addiction. Now, as a clinician I am able to provide a safe and nonjudgmental space for people to share their innermost thoughts, secrets and concerns. I utilize a mixed approach of evidenced based therapies which include Cognitive therapy, DBT and Mindfulness Based Relapse Prevention.

As a therapist, my core values deeply influence my approach to care. I offer empathy and compassion and prioritize understanding my clients' experiences, fostering trust and healing in a nonjudgmental space. I honor my clients' autonomy, collaborating with them to set goals and determine the course of therapy. I value integrity and authenticity; I believe in being genuine and transparent, modeling authenticity to encourage clients to explore their own truths. I offer a culturally sensitive practice; I integrate cultural competence into my practice, recognizing and respecting the influence of culture on clients' identities and experiences. I focus on growth and resilience; I believe in every individual's potential for growth and resilience, working collaboratively to identify strengths and navigate challenges with optimism and hope. These values serve as a compass, guiding me in providing ethical, compassionate, and effective care to support clients in achieving their desired outcomes.
