My name is Gabe Veas, and as a mental health professional, I look forward to working with you as a new client.
Addictions Counselor in Palm Springs, CA
I specialize in Animal Family Members Sickness & Bereavement. Alongside Cancun Veas, our Chihuahua puppy, we have sought to ally with clients seeking validation and affirmation as they support their animal family members. Therapy that dignifies the role of animals can help clients make end-of-life decisions associated with terminal illnesses, such as pursuing further medical treatment or euthanasia and the stresses of being a caretaker.
If you already have experience within or are interested in exploring the Consensual Nonmonogamous or CNM, Ethnical Nonmonogamous or ENM, and The Lifestyle or Swinger community, I am available to help you embark on this path. You do not need to feel alone as you attempt to understand your identity and balance relationships. I have experience providing supportive, empathetic, empowering, shame-free therapy with individuals with the option of incorporating others into sessions.
As a former clergyperson and seminary professor, I am familiar with the best and worst that one can experience via religion. I have addressed the following areas with individuals and organizations: purity culture, ministry scandal & failure, cult survivors, burnout, deconstruction, reconstruction, harassment, discrimination, and whistleblower support. Wherever you are in your experience, there is hope, and I would love to walk alongside you as you pursue healing.
The stories we have been told and those we tell about ourselves are incredibly powerful in shaping our thoughts, actions, and quality of life. Storytelling in therapy allows one to reconstruct these stories to experience new life-giving and hope-saturated ones. Traumatic events can be addressed in a healing way as your life and relationships are reoriented after deconstructing dominant narratives that have been oppressive on an individual and systemic level.
Alongside my Chihuahua puppy Cancun Veas, I am able to harness the therapeutic powers of the human-animal interaction to assist in a comfortable and safe environment as you pursue your mental health goals. I also provide Emotional Support Animal or ESA letters for clients who are in need of assistance to address mental health issues with companionship and support.
As a lyricist, I have utilized my skills and experiences to help others address life's challenges through songwriting in therapy. Mental health sessions are an ideal venue to be vulnerable through music creation and allow you to discuss problems in a fun, engaging, and artistic way. Personally, music helped me find my way again following the death of my 16-year-old son in 2021. I was honored to write several songs about him and perform them online and across the US, dignifying his memory.
