About My Clients
Since 2021, I have worked full-time with clients who have eating disorders. This unique mental and physical health challenge requires expertise and knowledge from a multi-disciplinary team that includes a therapist, dietitian and physician to effectively address. It can be challenging to find a skilled provider in this area, which is why it is my specialty. I work with adults via telehealth and only have weekend availability, which works well for my clients who are often busy during weekdays.
My Background and Approach
If you have an eating disorder or other mental health challenge, reaching out for help can be one of the hardest and best choices you can make. So many of us feel alone in our modern world filled with technology that disconnects us. The challenges of daily living can feel overwhelming, but there is a path forward. Counseling can offer hope in the form of a changed view of yourself and your situation, providing increased confidence and tools to break through barriers. I have worked as a clinical director in a residential eating disorder treatment center. My primary therapeutic modalities are Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Person-Centered, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I am trained in Gottman Couples Therapy (Level 2) and incorporate mindfulness and self-compassion into most sessions, depending on the client's preference. My approach is compassionate, strengths-based, humorous, goal-oriented and direct.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
After more than 20 years working in the technology industry, I sought a greater connection to purpose and meaning by becoming a mental health counselor. I have volunteered at Encircle, an organization providing a safe and supportive environment to LGBTQ+ teens and young adults. I work with clients of various religions and those without religious beliefs, and can support those in mixed faith marriages and those experiencing a Mormon faith crisis.
