About My Clients
Do you find yourself asking questions like “what am I doing with my life?”, “what do I want?”, “where am I going?” Do you feel stuck, unsure of your place in the world? Do you live with fear, anxiety, and existential dread? You’re in the right place. I love sitting with clients as they wrestle these deep questions. I don’t have your answers (I wish I did!), but I can provide support, understanding, and tools to help you find the answers you need.
My Approach to Helping
My favorite people to work with are those who are trying to understand who they are and what they want their life to be. Maybe they're in college, maybe they just went through a break-up, or maybe they're about to retire. With these types of challenges comes anxiety, depression, obsessive thinking, and plenty of distress. There also comes growth. My approach is with mindfulness, attachment theory, and existential theory. Mindfulness is all about focusing on the present moment in a non-judgmental way. Life is going to have its ups and downs, and that is normal and perfectly okay. Often it's like we're riding a roller coaster; mindfulness is just trying to help us see that we're on a roller coaster, not trying to take us off of it. Attachment theory helps us understand why we are the way we are, and existential theory helps us make meaning of our lives.
My Values as a Therapist
I believe that the benefits of therapy come not just from knowledge and master's degrees, but from providing a space where people feel wholly accepted for who they are. We face so much rejection in this world - from relationships, family, co-workers, and ourselves. In therapy, you can learn what it's like to truly be accepted, flaws and all. Through that, my hope is that you can learn to accept yourself. I also value collaboration in therapy. I have knowledge in psychology, but you have knowledge about what it’s like to be you or to be in your relationship. Let's work together to help you reach your goals.
