My Background and Approach
I was trained at SMITH SCHOOL FOR SOCIAL WORK- the oldest and one of most comprehensive clinical programs in the US. I have known a variety of specific settings which influenced my style: From pediatric clinics to residential rehab facilities to outpatient clinical settings. My approach has evolved into this style: Solution - Focused Psychotherapy with a Mind-Body focus. I also incorporate a Narrative Approach, where clients are able to tell their Life story and influence or reframe themes, to reduce shame and gain deeper acceptance.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a feminist who believes in clients having choices and resources to life lives of meaning. I support reproductive freedom, environmental protection, hunger eradication, and the flourishing of Arts and Creativity in our world. I strongly believe Nature can help heal us if we are open to it. I believe parenthood is a choice, and women and men both can live full lives without childrearing. I also believe in supporting pregnant and postpartum mothers., and ways to nourish them. Policies supporting parental leave, child attachment and healthy brain development including mindfulness and emotional intelligence to young people is also top of my list.
