I am a LCSW with over 20 years of experience supporting children, adolescents, and adults to reach their personal goals and full potential.
Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Midlothian, VA
I treat ADHD in children, adolescents, and adults. I work from a strength-based perspective, and seek to support patients in learning and applying practical strategies for managing this disorder. I often work with parents on ideas for supporting their child in the home environment, and am also available to coordinate with a child or adolescent patient's school on accommodations to help the patient reach his/her/their full potential.
I treat anxiety, including generalized anxiety, social phobia, specific phobia, panic, and OCD in children, adolescents, and adults. I work from a strength-based perspective, and often use an eclectic mix of cognitive behavioral therapy, including exposure therapy when relevant, and mindfulness-based strategies. I believe that we may not always have control over our thoughts, but we can learn to control how we manage those thoughts. I often work with parents on supporting their child.
I have over 20 years of experience treating children with a variety of issues, including behavioral, ADHD, anxiety, depression, peer relationships, and stress management. I work with families with children as young as 3 years old. I routinely offer parent consults to discuss ideas for building a supportive home environment for their child based on their individual strengths and challenges. Seeing children grow and progress emotionally and behaviorally is hugely rewarding for me!
I have been trained in exposure therapy to treat OCD and anxiety in children, adolescents, and adults. OCD can be a debilitating, affecting all facets of someone's life; it is rewarding to see patients make progress in overcoming this disorder.
I use mindfulness-based therapy to treat many issues, including anxiety, stress, anxiety, and depression. I find that mindfulness-based therapy is effective independently as well as paired with other therapy modalities. My certification as a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT 200) supports my work in this area.
I have had extensive training in CBT, and use it to treat patients who struggle with a variety of issues, including anxiety, depression, stress, and self-esteem. Gaining further understanding and insight into how our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected can be instrumental in making needed changes in our lives.
