I partner with teens and young adults to be the best versions of themselves.
Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in Santa Cruz, CA
I have spent the last 5 years predominately working with junior high to high school students struggling with relationship issues, school conflict, depression, suicidal thoughts, self-harm, hospitalizations for suicide attempts, anxiety- social and school related, and physical/sexual/emotional/psychological abuse.
I have partnered with children, adolescents, families, and adults struggling with the repercussions of trauma. I focus on creating a safe and secure therapeutic environment where my clients can share whatever details they are comfortable with. This is to help them understand why they think, feel, and respond the way they do, and provide the opportunity to pursue personal autonomy.
In my 5 years as a therapist/counselor, I have provided crisis interventions, suicide assessments, and therapy sessions to individuals bombarded with harmful thoughts pushing them to die by suicide. As a therapist, I sit in the darkness with them and work with them to establish hope. In session, we work together to walk through the darkness and create new goals to inspire reasons to live.
My graduate program was a combination of CBT and attachment theory. By using CBT, I help clients understand how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors impact each other like a domino-effect. Creating more self-awareness, allows clients to take control and establish a new directory for their life.
I begin therapy using Motivational Interviewing, to explore my clients hopes and goals for therapy. Motivational Interviewing helps empower clients to take responsibility for their time in therapy and their goals. Especially with adolescents and young adults, I want to empower them to take control of their identities and life goals to encourage them to pursue a life worth living.
From previous clinical supervisors, I have learned how to use mindfulness, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness interventions to help clients understand why they think, feel, and behave a certain way. From there, I collaborate with my clients to create a plan to improve their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors to purse the life they want to live out.
