About My Clients
Are you exhausted and overwhelmed? The pandemic, systemic racism, civil unrest, divisive politics, and climate change are causing and exacerbating anxiety in millions of people. These stressors can disrupt our sleep and eating patterns; increase pain and tension; and affect our bodies in other ways. Although none of us alone can fix these issues, we can learn better ways to cope, function, and communicate more effectively; I am passionate about helping people achieve just that.
My Background and Approach
I am a licensed psychologist (PhD, LP) with specialized training in clinical, health, and forensic psychology. I specialize in stress management and anxiety reduction for busy professionals and parents, and in the assessment and behavioral treatment of medical conditions including obesity, insomnia, and diabetes. I will utilize scientifically grounded techniques to help you achieve your health and wellness goals in a way that is sensitive to your unique strengths, beliefs, and cultural background. My solution-focused approach helps you set and progress toward your objectives in an efficient manner. The primary treatment modalities I use include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, and Motivational Interviewing. Additionally, I offer psychological assessments for medical (e.g., bariatric surgery) and legal (forensic) purposes.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in the power of people coming together to create a better future. I am on my own journey of personal growth, self-reflection, and anti-racism, and I am committed to always learning and trying to do better to advance the causes of all marginalized communities. I am a huge animal lover and have engaged in different levels of vegetarianism since I was eight. I am a member of Moms Demand Action and an advocate of science. I have worked with clients from many walks of life throughout my career, and I am eager to continue building relationships and learning from diverse individuals, both within and outside of my role as a psychologist.
