About My Clients

Your mind replays the past and dwells on the future, sending you into panic or making it hard to get out of bed. Your stomach is queasy, your neck is tight, and you feel like you can never quite relax. It feels like others don't see or trust the challenges you face and the effort you actually put in to just get by. You feel uncomfortable in your own skin and unaccepted wherever you go and crave a place that you can truly be yourself, un-judged and appreciated for your unique ideas and qualities.

My Background and Approach

I want to de-mystify and simplify counseling. Counseling works because the right kind of relationship can be healing. Through talking about the stuff that you might typically avoid (at your own pace), we build trust and reduce shame. You begin to more fully accept yourself because I will fully accept you. I listen carefully and help you see what works and what doesnt, clarifying and learning tools and techniques that create stronger relationships and help you move from anxious depression to confident connection. Through our discussions, you will hone the healing skills of awareness, openness, feeling emotions, taming your thoughts, finding meaning and purpose, and increasing choice and effectiveness with your actions. Feeling hopeless will shift into that glimmer of hope and panic will turn to peace and creative joy.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that our collaboration in therapy is healing. I know that the patterns of thinking and behavior that have helped us cope with pain and suffering can be up-graded. In the midst of love and heartache, grueling exams and a living with a bunch of extroverts as an introvert in college; I was anxious and had a few panic attacks. Through exercise, healthy food, mindfulness, my counseling training and supportive relationships; I have learned how to fully handle anxiety, so that I can pursue the things I care about. I want you to also overcome anxiety and depression. While I love sports, punk rock music, being in the outdoors, and playing with my children, I also enjoy getting to know people very different than me. I work with people with all types of religious, political and sexual orientations. It is meaningful for me to see others find and express their struggles and joys.
