About My Clients
You have been living through a stressful and exhausting time. A global pandemic is constantly changing your relationships and the way you live your life. You have also been exposed to an unprecedented amount of collective trauma both within your communities, and on a larger global scale. You're finding it harder to get a good night's rest, and you struggle to find meaning in a world that seems overwhelmingly painful to exist in. You want things to be different, but you don't know how.
My Background and Approach
Hi, my name is Jack Lam (they/he) and I am a genderqueer, non-binary Chinese Malaysian immigrant. My specialties include depression/anxiety, trauma treatment, suicidal ideation, and LGBTQ+ issues. I bring a compassionate, anti-oppressive lens to the work I do. My goal is to provide a space for you to understand yourself more deeply, and build a more fulfilling life that is true to your values. I can help with reframing thinking patterns, changing behaviors, building new routines, and delving deeper into traumas that might be affecting the way you think and behave.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that our collective liberation begins with our personal capacities to reimagine our reality. Prior to being a therapist, I volunteered and was a training supervisor at suicide crisis hotlines & chats. I also facilitated support groups for LGBTQ+ and Asian Pacific Islander Desi (APID) identified folks. I have presented at racial, gender, and sexuality conferences in California and in Texas. My goal in therapy is not to pathologize or "fix" you, but rather to help you understand yourself more deeply through reflection, and help (re)build a life that is more aligned with your values.
