Individuals who identify with the LGBTQI+ communities endure many challenges in today’s cisgender heterosexual-oriented society. As a member of the LGBTQI+ community, have you had issues with discrimination, lack of education by a provider or others in your life, family/relationship issues, self-esteem issues, coming out concerns, substance use, grief, gender identity concerns or traumatic experiences? I promote acceptance, understanding, & a renewed commitment to pursuing your life goals.

Experiencing emotional dysregulation, feelings of out of control, and relational struggles? Do you feel like you lack the skills to better manage these concerns? These symptoms can impact our ability to function in various areas of our life thus interfering with an individual’s ability to achieve their personal goals. I utilized evidenced based practices to help you feeling better and more capable to manage every day life.

I am a certified clinical trauma professional and utilized a process based approach to address PTSD, trauma and complex trauma. When it comes to trauma I prefer to utilized more experiential and evidence based practices such as EMDR, Accelerated Resolution Therapy and Safe and Sound Protocol which is from the Polyvagal theory and really addresses somatic concerns.

I believe personal struggles are not a result of a person but rather a variety of life factors & an overall maladaptive process with the goal of developing a healthier process. So, I utilize a process based approach which allows for an individualized approach that focuses on the maladaptive processes that an individual will engage while working to implement more adaptive behaviors & processes. In my toolbox is CBT, DBT, ACT, mindfulness, attachment, somatic, positive psychology & psychodynamic.

EMDR is a modality that helps to alleviate traumatic or blocked memories. It uses bilateral stimulation (BLS-eye movements or tapping) to stimulate both the left and right hemispheres of the brain, for the purpose of helping the brain heal and connect to new information.
