Hello! I hope to bring my enthusiasm and energetic approach to help you, and your loved ones, achieve their personal greatness!
Educational Psychologist in El Cajon, CA
As stated before, I see my role as a support and coach for you. You are capable of more than you realize, and that may be hard to believe in the moment, but it is true. When taking on the Coach role, my job would be to ask probing questions, helping identify strategies and/or solutions not previously seen, and keep momentum going through the process.
CBT is a well-researched, and established, approach to counseling. Therefore, I incorporate strategies and questions from CBT as appropriate. The overall aim is to maximize outcomes for you, and CBT increases the likelihood of that happening.
One of my goals is always to highlight your strengths and abilities. Although, there may be significant challenges at the moment - that does not minimize how much you are capable of. I find Narrative Therapy to be most helpful in separating the "Person" from the "Problem."
Working with teenagers, pre-teens, and young adults (age 18-24) has been a passion of mine for quite a while. This time is full of possibilities which includes growth and conflict. My approach works well with teenagers who have their own ideas, emotions, and priorities - but they may not know how to communicate these things effectively. In most cases, we work together not only to maintain appropriate boundaries but also raise the bar on what the teen does independently.
I have worked with individuals to manage symptoms of Anxiety and gain a better understanding of how their Anxiety impacts them. From coping with panic attacks to separating an Anxiety Disorder from problematic social situations, I have been able to help people overcome these feelings and place them in the rearview mirror.
I am a practicing School Psychologist who has worked in the Elementary (K-6) and High School (9-12) levels. I work closely with General Education and Special Education teachers to help design intervention and instructional approaches for student success. Furthermore, I emphasize finding collaborative solutions that provide meaningful (positive) impacts on students' lives.
