About My Clients
My clients are a lot like me: they are neurodivergent, sensitive, recovering people pleasers wanting to work through mental health challenges and/or trauma. They are women, enbies, and/or members of the LGBTQIA+ and/or BIPOC community needing support amidst the weight of systemic oppression and hate. My clients are tired of traditional talk therapy and are ready and willing to take a risk and try something new for the sake of healing.
My Background and Approach
I got my Master's in Community and Trauma Counseling from Jefferson University in 2021 and have been seeing clients ever since. I'm still a relatively new therapist (working towards licensure) and am constantly learning both from my clients and through professional trainings. You can expect a blend of humor, Spongebob references, guest appearances by my cats, gentle challenging, and radical honesty in sessions with me. My approach to therapy is foundationally humanistic and heavily informed by parts work, attachment theory, and neurobiology. I incorporate various methodologies depending on the client, but consistently maintain a safe and nonjudgmental space where clients can communicate freely and experience messy emotions. I can help you bring your nervous system to a state of regulation (AKA, help you shift out of fight/flight/freeze), cultivate healthier relationships, and learn self-acceptance and compassion. I have lived experience with trauma, and with healing from it.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I'm a neurodivergent, introverted, highly-sensitive, tattooed, laid-back therapist working over telehealth in Philadelphia (but I can see anyone who resides in PA). I'm a picky eater who believes pineapple DOES belong on pizza, but garlic bread is a disgrace. I'm a cat mom to four babies for whom I'd absolutely go to war. I have lived experience with hardship, mental health challenges, and complex trauma, and I know for a fact that this makes me a better clinician. I like running on the treadmill, yoga, gardening, drawing, coloring my hair, goth glam makeup, and leaving men on read. I am a supporter of all people. I am a pro-choice, body positive feminist and antiracist and am happy to discuss how I implement this in my day to day life. I have never, and will never, support tr*mp or any of his followers. I have experience working in animal welfare, emergency medical services, human services, substance use, and research. Please email me at jasmineaharlan@gmail.com!
