About My Clients
Depression can feel like all the possibilities in life have somehow vanished -- like nothing can change. I understand this because I have been there. The good news is that it does not have to feel like this. Feeling better is possible.
My Background and Approach
I specialize in depression, anxiety, trauma, and identity issues. I am a former philosophy professor (with a Ph.D. in Philosophy from Purdue University) who left a successful academic career to become a therapist after encountering - and overcoming! - my own mental health and addiction challenges. So I understand just how much depression can hurt. Everything changed once I found the right therapist for me. The right therapist can change your whole life. I offer an absolutely non-judgmental space to talk and always take the time to really listen and understand the complexity of your suffering. My approach is broadly psychodynamic with a focus on the unconscious meaning of your experiences. I also incorporate other modalities, such as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing.)
