About My Clients
My work has been most effective for curious, creative, and sensitive minds who have trouble fully manifesting their most authentic selves. Therapeutic topics I work on include (but are not limited to): feeling out of touch with your true self, mild ongoing depression, effects of trauma, intense self criticism or perfectionism, trouble communicating authentically, undesirable relationship patterns, lacking sense of belonging, disconnection from your purpose and meaning of life.
My Background and Approach
Aside from a therapist, I’m Head of UX Leadership Academy at Google where I’ve trained hundreds of Google creatives and researchers on facilitation best practices (http://linkedin.com/in/jayeon/). I’m also a trainer for Search Inside Yourself — an emotional Intelligence, mindfulness, and leadership program — as well as a yoga (RYT-500) and mindfulness instructor. I was born and raised in a small coastal town in South Korea. About 20 years ago I moved to the U.S. by myself as a young adult in pursuit of curiosity and adventure. A long, fertile journey has since led me to become a therapist. I studied counseling psychology at California Institute of Integral Studies (MA). Prior to that, I studied creative fields such as textiles, art, and design at Seoul National University and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (BFA).
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As your therapist, I’ll facilitate a safe space where you can overcome and transform your emotional, psychological, and interpersonal challenges. We’ll explore your pains and struggles as well as your visions, hopes, and strengths. Through this journey my therapeutic goal is to help you create and sustain a life that feels congruent with your most authentic self and deepest desires.
