About My Clients
As a therapist at Self Space I look forward to working with anyone over 18 and over who values self-exploration, curiosity, and a desire to be free from suffering and to fully engage in life. I work with people who experience a range of issues, including people experiencing anxiety, depression, harsh self-criticism, problematic alcohol or substance use, trauma, self-harm, stress, or challenging life transitions.
My Background and Approach
I am a contextual and relational therapist, which means that I emphasize the importance of context as well as our therapeutic relationship. Everyone is born into a particular context: historical, cultural, social, familial - and this context interacts with, shapes, and creates behavioral patterns and ways of being in the world, some of which we are aware of and some of which lie just outside of our awareness. I aim to facilitate a deep understanding of how these contextual factors influence your world as well to build capacity to uproot harmful patterns. You can expect to be fully heard, empathized with, challenged, and empowered. My therapeutic approach is informed by my unique combination of a research PhD in Psychology, a Master’s of Social Work, and post-graduate training in psychodynamic psychotherapy (particularly Intensive Short Term Psychodynamic Psychotherapy or ISTDP) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. This combination allows me to tailor therapy to your unique needs.
