Greetings to all! I am a Virginia native, graduate intern looking to assist and guide people through their healing journeys!
Student Therapist in Chester, VA
Supervised by Jerald Elliott, LPC
I have worked with adolescents for over 9 years. I have seen the mindset of these children/young adults transform as our conversations got deeper. The act of inserting small things into your life can help offset the symptoms of depression. For example: eating your favorite snack can send endorphins (the feel good hormones) to your brain and possibly, even for a second, make you feel okay in that moment.
I have about 9 years of experience with helping people with Generalized Anxiety Disorder. Techniques I use to help combat anxiety is grounding, deep breathing and visualization.
Currently, I work as a Behavior Therapist in Henrico County, VA. I am familiar with IEP’s and working with children on creating programs to better help them succeed.
During my 9 year tenure of working with children, I have discovered that play therapy helps children become comfortable when talking to someone about something they’ve experienced. Children will automatically integrate what they see, hear, feel, and think into their play. How a child plays with something can also give clues as to what the chid is thinking, feeling, hearing and seeing.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy gives the client the tools to develop their own coping skills, and change their own thinking and behaviors. It gives the client control over themselves so that eventually, they will be able to pull out their own toolsets independently to help cope with their issues. I act as a guide for my clients, and not someone who dictates what they should and should not do.
Using Holistic Therapy, I look at each individual as a whole. This goes beyond their face value issues, and also the issues that they come into the office with. I address the mind, body, and spirit to induce healing.
