The people who raised us were heavily influenced by the people who raised them, who were in turn influenced by those who raised them, back into the past..in addition, each generation is influenced by attitudes in the surrounding society, in the world at large and in their particular time and place. It can be helpful to explore the impact this has had on you and your life today.
My focus is on care for the whole person, helping to reduce obstacles and clear a path for the natural tendency to heal and grow. In many cases, medications can be helpful, with therapy frequently having the most impact. My evaluations focus on uncovering the root causes of difficulties in order to apply effective, lasting solutions. Appropriate monitoring allows for modifications over time should patient needs change.
I love to work with adolescents because they bring something so beautiful to society: pushing us to bring reality ever closer to the ideal. The adjustment at this developmental stage can be difficult, taking different forms. Most of my nursing career was on adolescent psychiatric inpatient units. I look forward to meeting you or your teen to try to be of help.
Sometimes our distress is caused by automatic thoughts that, upon examination, are not even true. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is helpful for building and maintaining an accurate picture of the world around us, so that the actions we take are useful and effective.
Anxiety can often be traced back to life's most basic questions. Existential Therapy can help guide a person towards a feeling of meaningfulness, calm, and flourishing.
Sometimes understanding ourselves is facilitated by understanding forces that shaped us going back generations. With tools for exploring the influences that led up to the present day, it is possible to unlock tremendous freedom to change and choose.
My focus is on care for the whole person, helping to reduce obstacles and clear a path for the natural tendency to heal and grow. In many cases, medications can be helpful, with therapy frequently having the most impact. I will work with you to identify root causes in order to implement targeted, effective solutions. Should medication be recommended, careful monitoring will ensure adjustments are made in response to any changing needs.
We are all influenced by those who raised us, who were in turn influenced by those who raised them, back through the generations. We and they are also influenced by our surrounding society and historical events, both in the world at large and in our individual time and place. Understanding how these forces impact you today can be of great help to liberate choice and change.
Although I also see adults and children, I specialize in adolescents. In the transition from childhood to adulthood, difficulties can at times arise. Adolescents perform a beautiful function in society, asking us to bring reality ever closer to the ideal. I bring years of experience as milieu manager on adolescent psychiatric inpatient units, as a teacher for teen parents, and as a parenting workshop facilitator to connecting with and assisting teens and their families.
