About My Clients
My goal is to offer you a space for safe processing and positive transformation. You may not necessarily know if trauma is the root of what's going on- maybe you are noticing a pattern in relationships, anxiety provoking experiences, or unexplained panic. We can work together to unpack and make sense of it- helping you feel more in control.
My Background and Approach
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) are my primary counseling approaches. During our initial session, we will collaborate and identify what type of counseling approach will best fit your needs and support your preferred future while identifying goals to work on together. I believe my client is the expert on their own life- while my role is to aid in finding techniques and tools that will result in the ability to feel more in control, challenge defeating thoughts driving negative emotions, and improve interpersonal relationship skills. I have a background in working with diverse mental health settings and populations including: veterans and military families, combat-related trauma, survivors of sexual abuse, childhood abuse/trauma, isolated traumatic events, grief and loss, and suicide loss survivors.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that every individual has the ability to help themselves work toward feeling better. This level of self help includes taking on the responsibility of processing unresolved experiences. My own childhood trauma recovery was my inspiration to become a counselor. The significant relief and meaningful insight that resulted from my own participation in EMDR therapy led to my passion for helping others with the same approach. My hope for you is to find the right path to relief, wellness, and strength.
