About My Clients
Many of the people I work with come to therapy wanting to examine the areas where they feel blocked, fearful, or even lost to themselves. Often, it is the very coping mechanisms that have gotten us through hard times that become habits that hold us back. By showing up with curiosity and a collaborative spirit, we can be both honest and compassionate with how we hold ourselves back and then make more room to be who we truly are.
My Background and Approach
Our bodies are with us for our whole lives. Every experience, every conversation, every movement and every environment leaves its impressions on us physically. Millions of processes take place automatically: our brains record patterns and send messages to our heart and lungs, adrenaline flows, muscles tense or relax, sometimes all beneath our consc As an artist, I appreciate working creatively and in the moment. Using interventions based in narrative therapy, I may invite you to notice how your emotions show up for you and what they might be communicating, which can be both somatic and symbolic. Therapy can be incredibly vulnerable, especially when working somatically or with trauma, and I will regularly check-in with you for feedback about our pace, our dynamic, and your needs. I prefer a strength-based, client-centered approach, meaning I will work alongside you to sift through your experiences, notice how they’ve shaped you, and collaborate on finding new ways forward.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a somatically trained and client-centered therapist, I understand that each person keeps within them their own path towards healing and I am not the one who holds the answers to your life. I am here to accompany through times of struggle and times of joy. While I may help point the flashlight into some dark corners, you are the one who knows best what each twist and turn means for you.
