About My Clients
My clients are dedicated to engaging in action and reflection to identify, process and engage in change for themselves in creating the life they want to live. My clients take the tools that we discuss and practice and work hard on implementing them into their lives with my support. They embrace energy work and metaphysical-transpersonal counseling and are open minded, participatory and work collaboratively with me.
My Background and Approach
I embrace mind, body, spirit medicine and healing that incorporates guided visualization, mindfulness, healing meditations, lifestyle changes including food/mood health at any size philosophy, supplements/herbs/plant medicine, ancient ceremony/energy practices and healing as well as expressive arts/sound healing and movement. We work to stabilize you and help you learn how to cope with life's distresses effectively... as you practice the homework. I am well versed in inner child healing and my Curandera Espiritu practices as well as hold academic specialties in anxiety disorders, trauma, grief and positive psychology. I have a Phd in Psychology/Transpersonal Psychology with a doctorate of ministry in Holistic Life Coaching as well as am a New Thought Practitioner whose interest areas are alternative plant based treatment for PTSD, grief, recovery, Health at Any Size, Functional Medicine for Mental Health and endocannabinoids for management of anxiety, panic, pain and insomnia.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a liberal, ally who supports women's rights, those who identify as women or men regardless of birth sex, ancestral lands, racial equity, fat and body acceptance, advocacy for mental health and healthcare reform as well as natural methods of mental health treatment. I am a large woman who focuses on health at any size, including yoga, Accessible Yoga (including bed, chair and limited mobility), therapeutic expressive arts, sound healing and more. I am a huge advocate for homeless services support and am the former Executive Director of the Center for Therapeutic Expressive Arts that provided warm and hygiene kits for the homeless in Kansas City. I canvas the streets with kits myself as well. I am also an advocate for culinary medicine and therapeutic arts in all areas, rethinking counselor training programs and mental health in schools. I have worked in education and human services for over 35 years and have recovered from my own CPTSD. I am have a lengthy resume.
