About My Clients

I find that my clients come to treatment when they have arrived at a life transition- be it loss of relationship, job, death of loved one, or other life shifts, and are ready to take charge of their emotional world. My clients often want to see and feel positive change and growth and are ready to do the work it may take to experience change. Openness to exploring past trauma that may be impacting current life functioning is often crucial to growth in the work we will embark on.

My Background and Approach

I initially assess my clients for current issues or negative patterns to help support development of positive coping skills to manage the current issues. We will do a thorough trauma assessment, to see if any past maladaptive experiences may be negatively impacting current growth. I can implement EMDR and art therapy, as well teach you CBT-based skills to support identifying, challenging, and replacing negative or self-defeating thought patterns. It is important to tailor my approach to meet my client's unique personality, style, and needs to develop a strong rapport and trusting relationship, and will (attempt) to add humor as appropriate, to help you shift perspective. My ultimate goal is to help you live the life you have imagined for yourself, or help you create a life in which you feel supported, respected, competent, and joyful.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I am experienced, both personally and professionally, with the LGBTQIA communities/folx and open/non-traditional/polyamorous relationships. I strongly support the BLM movement and social justice causes and integrating this work into therapy as appropriate. I have experience working with people with chronic health conditions and illness and am anti-ableism. I am neurodiversity-affirming and have experience working with autistic and/or attention deficit identifying kids, teens, and adults.

I offer online counseling in the following states:
