About Our Clients

We continually seek to provide a safe and affirming experience for all marginalized persons, particularly those who trans, nonbinary, or queer, and/or BIPOC. The three of us are passionate about providing services for people who might not otherwise feel comfortable seeking therapy or who might not otherwise have access to it.

How We Can Help You

We provide individual therapy for a variety of presenting issues, including identity exploration, transitioning, societal stigma and marginalization, interpersonal issues, anxiety, depression, trauma, autism, stress, and whatever else clients bring to the table. Joanna is excited to supervise Sam Hollis-White and Millicent Cahoon in the 2022/2023 academic year and to be able to provide services to even more people with their help. We will offer two therapy groups in the fall, each meeting 90 minutes weekly for 14 weeks. The Gender Affirmative Therapy Group for trans and nonbinary adults (Tuesdays 6-7:30 p.m., Aug 23-Dec 6) will be co-led by Sam and Joanna. The Unapologetic Therapy Group for LGBTQ+ adults (Thursdays 2:30-4 p.m., Aug 25-Dec 8) will be co-led by Millicent and Joanna. See aqua "Group" button above for more details.

Why We are a Good Fit for You

Sam Hollis-White (she/her): I grew up in Birmingham, Alabama, and came to Louisville to get my doctorate in clinical psychology. My passion is working with LGBTQ+ individuals with a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, and trauma. Millicent Cahoon (she/her): I am a Black queer counselor who received my master’s in counseling in 2019 from Northwestern University. I am now a second-year counseling psychology doctoral student at the University of Louisville. I work within the interpersonal therapy approach, with emphasis on how interpersonal relationships inform mental health outcomes. Joanna Morse (she/her): I have been working mainly with transgender adults since starting a private practice in 2014. I use a collaborative approach because I firmly believe you are the expert on what is important to you, what works for you, and how you think and feel. I take an active approach, teaching skills and helping to find practical solutions.
