I utilize a strengths based, trauma informed approach when working with clients empowering them to identify their goals, challenge negative thinking patterns and uncover their strengths. Trauma is an abnormal event that causes many normal reactions such as fear, anxiety, worry, flashbacks, sleeping problems, depression, and nightmares. EMDR is an evidenced based therapy that can help you feel relief from symptoms quickly and change negative beliefs that were created from those traumatic experiences. I also use Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with children. Through TF-CBT children and caregivers have a better understanding of the traumatic events the child experienced, decrease their trauma symptoms and gain coping skills that help them cope with tough feels such as anger, fear, shame or sadness.
