About My Clients
Helping people heal from and manage anxiety, trauma, grief and loss and relationship concerns are where I feel I can offer the most help. Trauma comes in many different forms and it all deserves to be explored. I am dedicated to bringing cultural awareness and competency into my practice, working to help all people feel welcome and know that this is a space where we can discuss our differences in order to develop deeper understanding.
My Background and Approach
I use somatic and body awareness, integrating breath, meditation, writing exercises and even humor into the therapeutic process. I also utilize elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), DBT, and Internal Family Systems (which is looking at the different parts of self), and EMDR.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that we all have the innate ability to heal and process and ultimately I feel that the person I'm working with knows best how to heal. I like to think of myself as a guide in that process. I will of course give suggestions and utilize the tools I have, but I want people to feel like they are in charge of their mental health. I love the power of meditation, yoga, and the great outdoors. I make it a point to be an ally in the LGBTQ community and participate where I can. I am always working to challenge myself on cultural competency knowing that we are forever in a state of flux and understanding. I believe in the healing power of music from pop to Tibetan singing bowls, nothing is off limits.
