About My Clients
Maybe you have a trauma (or five) that you have to work through. Trauma can be defined as “too much, too fast, too soon.” If you have a past trauma, we can work together to integrate those feelings and help you get back to a functional life. You might need someone to work with you to process this trauma to help you move through and past these hard events in your life. I can help you in many ways to help you look at these events in a safe way over time and carefully to help you regain peace.
My Background and Approach
I have extensive training in trauma and religious trauma. My advanced research, knowledge, and experience in high-demand groups (cults and unhealthy religious groups, including mainstream churches) bring me to a deeper understanding of spiritual abuse and trauma. This includes the maltreatment of our precious marginalized communities (including LGBTQ+ people within the church). I met with many different leaders in this area of research as well, and continue to be at the forefront of the #churchtoo and #metoo movements. My passion for seeking the causes for current behavior drives me in my work. There is a deep reason for the things we do, it stems from past trauma/events that we experience. It makes NO sense to simply tell someone to STOP doing those things. We need to understand why we are doing them in the first place. That takes time and a relationship of trust with your therapist. We will move at the speed of trust.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe there is a significant difference between “all are welcome here” & “this was created with you in mind.” I believe therapy is like this. We will work together to find what works best for you, and make it your space. I believe in helping you be seen, not just viewed.
