About My Clients
I work with a variety of adults who present with common issues such as depression, anxiety, and relationship issues. I like to work with young people in their twenties, first responders, musicians, academics, rural residents, and children/grandchildren of Holocaust survivors. I especially like to work with people who are looking for a sex positive therapist and who are troubled by the terrible things that are happening in the US and the world.
My Background and Approach
I have been licensed since 1981. I describe my approach as informal but professional. I am actively engaged, helping you learn how to help yourself. My theoretical orientation as a clinical social worker is that of Person-In-Environment, meaning that it is important to understand the person and their behavior in the context of the multiple environments in which they live. I am a sex-positive therapist and also believe a harm reduction approach can be useful in dealing with behaviors such as the overuse of substances.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I identify as a white, cis gender, able bodied, pansexual polyamorous woman. As the daughter of a Holocaust survivor, my personal mission is to do whatever I can to reduce human suffering. I am attracted to social work because of its focus on the person-in-environment and its commitment to social justice.
