Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy can be highly effective for a variety of conditions, including trauma and anxiety. It helps your brain take memories that were quickly stashed away, and sort them out and put them away properly. In doing so, it helps take away the high emotions associated with it. This can help you move past your activating event in a new and beneficial way. EMDR can be done safely and effectively in virtual appointments with an app I work with.
CBT helps us restructure our automatic thoughts in an effective way. I liken it to creating new "hiking trails" in our brain. At first it can be hard to find the new way of thinking, however with repeated use and understanding of why we have the new trail, it can get easier and easier. Over time, the old thought patters (trails) start to disappear. Our thoughts effect our emotions, which in turn effects our behaviors. Learning to have more adaptive thoughts can make a huge difference.
Anger Management Therapy can be very useful with those that struggle with anger on a regular basis. With this therapy I will help you learn to control your anger to keep it from controlling you. To start with we work on not immediately responding to the anger. Then we work on understanding what the anger is trying to tell us, and then using it in a beneficial way. You are not seen as a "bad" person because you lose your temper, I provide a safe environment to help you move forward.
