I am a mental health therapist who supports people in managing body/food shame, anxiety, and attachment wounds.
Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in Federal Way, WA
Clients who have childhood trauma or relationship issues will work with me on overcoming attachment wounds. We will use inner child tools to understand what needs were neglected and how to give yourself the care your younger self needs. I also assist clients in building communication and boundary tools to improve current relationships.
Most clients who work with me struggle with feeling unworthy, fearful, panicky, tightness in their body, and feel like a burden to others. Typically these are anxiety symptoms which I offer tools for managing fears and regulating your nervous system when you're overwhelmed. Many times anxiety can be related to low self-esteem and fear of what others think of you. We work on building confidence and alleviating such fears.
Clients who need support with body and food issues often worry how others perceive their body and food choices. Clients may obsess over food and fear that they are "bad" for what they eat. Clients may also struggle with not finding joy in physical activity. I work from a Health At Every Size lens, which means we work on eliminating shame around your body and find ways to engage in food and activities you enjoy. Weight loss is not the goal in this work.
