About My Clients
I love working with people who are wanting to figure out how to live in the world as their truest selves. We all experience things like trauma, anxiety, depression, and more -- these are a part of being human. But when these rob us of our autonomy, leaving us stuck in cycles that change us, we may need help to see our way through what we cannot navigate alone. My Background and Approach
I have a B.A. in Philosophy, an M.A. in Clinical and Mental Health Counseling, and a broad range of clinical experience, including community health settings, private practice, acute psychiatric hospitals, and skills groups. I currently see individual clients in private practice. During my time in graduate school, I was awarded a position in the HRSA Behavioral Workforce, a program that focused on bringing quality mental health care to the disenfranchised. I am trained in Eye Movement Reprocessing and Desensitization (EMDR) therapy and am a Certified Compassion Fatigue Educator. I approach therapy from a variety of theoretical orientations: polyvagal theory, internal family systems (IFS), EMDR therapy, narrative theory, family systems theory, dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and person-centered therapy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe we are all inherently good. I believe we all end up wounded on our journeys in the world. While these wounds can be a place where resilience and character are born, they can also cause us to live in ways that do not align with who we know we are and want to be. I believe that if we treat these wounds with curiosity, love, and self-compassion, we can come through our pain feeling more like ourselves than we could ever imagine.
