About My Clients
If you find yourself feeling stuck in a negative relationship with food and your body, I can help! As a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist, I provide support to individuals who are dealing with these struggles, with a particular passion for working with athletes and fitness competitors. Traumatic experiences can also cause that stuck feeling. I am able to help clients resolve those memories to achieve healthier relationships and a decrease in depression and anxiety symptoms.
My Background and Approach
I am EMDR trained, and find that this modality can be incredibly helpful for a broad range of issues. Often, EMDR is thought of as a therapeutic technique that is only used to help resolve trauma, but it is actually very versatile! EMDR can help you move past unhelpful beliefs, work through relationship issues, decrease fear around specific phobias, and help manage anxiety and depression. I often recommend this type of therapy to my clients because I have seen firsthand (and experienced for myself) how helpful it can be! While I highly recommend EMDR, I honor that some of my clients prefer talk therapy. It is absolutely OK for us to take that approach! When providing talk therapy, I utilize a number of different therapeutic techniques to help you reach your goals. I find that an eclectic therapeutic approach is most helpful, and I am able to be flexible in my style in order to best meet your unique needs.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I value a collaborative approach to counseling, and working side by side with you to help you reach the goals that feel most important. Our relationship, while a professional one, is still a relationship, so it is important for there to be transparency, honesty, and respect toward one another. Sometimes I might challenge you or offer another way of looking at something in an effort to best help you. Other times I might support you or ask you questions to help you find deeper meaning and understanding. My office (or virtual office!) is a space of safety, acceptance, and support. I am affirming of all backgrounds, cultures, sexual orientations, and religious faiths. Overall, my goal is to help you find the growth and healing that you seek in a warm and accepting environment. There is meaning in our struggles, there is opportunity in our difficulties, and processing our experience with bravery and authenticity is the best way to create connection and growth.
