About My Clients
Are you feeling stuck? Anxious? Getting pushed around by your difficult thoughts and feelings? I can help you learn new ways to approach your struggles so that you can have more opportunity to connect with what is important to you and build a rich, full, and meaningful life.
My Background and Approach
I enjoy helping people learn how to be in their lives now. By slowing down and being more aware of what is going on in our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors we learn to accept reality as it is in this moment, which then allows us the opportunity to do something about it. We do not have to remain stuck in the same patterns and experience the same cycles over and over again. By enhancing our awareness we become better able to see more options and choices for how we want to respond (instead of react) to our realities.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LH60650496) in the state of Washington and received a Master of Arts in Counseling from Antioch University. I have additional extensive training in a variety of different theoretical approaches, but my preferred methods include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), combined with an attention to internalized oppression, self-empowerment/self-esteem, and collaborative problem-solving. My work experience includes group private practice, inpatient chemical dependency treatment centers and community mental health settings. I have experience with and welcome clients from all backgrounds regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, race, religious affiliation and/or sexual orientation.
