About My Clients
I work with survivors of trauma, people experiencing grief and life transitions, polyamorous and non-monogamous clients, queer and trans clients, neurodivergent clients, other fat people, clients who practice kink and BDSM, and clients impacted by systemic trauma and oppression. I also enjoy working with others in the helping profession and people who are navigating working in non-profits.
My Background and Approach
Hello, I’m Kelsey Schulman (they/them). I received my Masters in Social Work from The University of Washington in 2018 specializing in mental health and have worked in a variety of community mental health and non-profit settings since 2014. My roles have included psychotherapist, group healing facilitator, and advocate working with survivors of trauma of all identities from emerging adults up to older adults. I’m passionate about liberation for all people, and I believe therapy is a place to work towards becoming more free. I use an eclectic approach that integrates modalities such as DBT, ACT, Somatics, Mindfulness and EMDR to address the various challenges that clients face throughout their lifespan. I enjoy bringing a sense playfulness and using humor (when appropriate) in my work as we plant seeds of change and cultivate growth as a team. When not working as a therapist, I enjoy tide pooling, camping, activism, dancing, and sharing food with loved ones.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in abolition and ending the US war machine. We live in the belly of the beast and healing includes liberation for everyone. I'm an anti-zionist Jew fighting for a free Palestine. I believe deeply that connection to nature, to community, to play and in connecting with our bodies we can cultivate a life worth living. As a fat, neurodivergent trans healer I believe in activism that extends outside of the therapy room. Finding ways to connect to my aliveness through somatics has changed the way I move through the world and I want to cultivate that in all parts of my life.
