Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapeutic approach that focuses on our perceptions and behaviors. CBT helps us understand how our thoughts influence the way we behave and think. While EVERYONE experiences distorted thoughts and occasionally focuses on only the negative aspects of life, I use powerful CBT techniques to enhance YOUR progress and to help you uncover your strengths.
Trauma is an emotional and psychological response to a distressing event that is life-threatening or could cause serious injury. Trauma can be experienced immediately or can have a delayed onset and evoke a negative emotional state. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Exposure Therapy for the treatment of trauma.
Exposure therapy is the treatment choice for a variety of anxiety-related disorders and is the most effective method in the treatment of OCD (also known as ERP, Exposure Response Prevention). The exposure is usually done gradually and rapidly, to enhance desensitization. Exposure therapy is also used to treat trauma and is usually called PE (Prolonged Exposure).
OCD affects both adults and children and can be debilitating and time-consuming, affecting multiple aspects of life. The condition can be treated with Serotonin Selective Reuptake Inhibitor (SSRI), Exposure Response Prevention (ERP), or Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT).
