I work at a group practice specializing in trauma-informed care. In this field, we have learned so much about trauma in the last few years! We have found that trauma is stored in the body and is healed through feelings of connection and safety. Mindfulness and Brainspotting are some tools we can use to help you feel grounded and tap into the body's natural capacity for healing from trauma.
I have a great respect for anxiety, which I call the body's alarm system. For some people, that alarm is extra sensitive. We can use techniques to calm it down a bit. Then, we can figure out if there's something that keeps setting it off. Together, we can help you spend more time feeling peaceful and present and develop resources for when anxiety happens.
If you've been told that you're no good, sometimes you start to believe it. Then you start telling yourself you're no good, and that critical voice in your head won't stop beating you up. That voice keeps hurting you over and over again, making it really hard to work towards your goals. Together, we can work towards finding a sense of self-compassion and self-worth. The more you can accept yourself as you are now, the easier it becomes to change.
