If you are having a difficult time adjusting after the emergence of a stressor in your life, you may benefit from new strategies taught in Dialectical Behavior Therapy such as mindfulness practices, interpersonal effectiveness skills, and coping skills that can help you regulate your emotions. EMDR may also help people reprocess past and current triggers that are contributing to stress. Depth psychotherapy can also be useful to help people resolve spiritual issues caused by life transitions.
EMDR is a useful modality for people who are experiencing symptoms caused by traumatic events like sexual abuse and sexual assault. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) can also be useful for sexual abuse and sexual assault survivors because it teaches strategies to become more mindful of the present moment, cope with painful emotions in safe and healthy ways, and establish healthy boundaries and communicate effectively with others.
I am trained in EMDR, which is an evidence-based treatment for PTSD. Unlike traditional talk therapy for trauma, EMDR does not require talking about upsetting events in detail, or homework in between sessions. Instead, it is designed to help the brain process upsetting memories that have become “stuck,” along with disturbing images, thoughts, and emotions, which may make the person feel like they are reliving the past, to reduce distress and promote post-traumatic growth.
I have completed the basic training requirements with the Trauma Recovery Humanitarian Assistance Programs, which is recognized by EMDRIA. This level of training means that I have completed both Part 1 and Part 2 workshops (for a combined total of 40 hours of training) and 10 hours of consultation. EMDR is an evidence-based treatment for PTSD.
We can work together on your dreams and your self-expression through art work, poetry, creative writing, etc., to help gain insight into the patterns being played out in your life. I completed my Ph.D. in Depth Psychology with an emphasis in depth psychotherapy from Pacifica Graduate Institute in 2018.
I have been applying DBT skills training with adolescents and adults since I began practicing therapy in 2011. I recently refreshed my skills by completing an 18 hour DBT for Adolescents and Families training.
I have training in depth psychotherapy, EMDR, and DBT, which can all be used to help people progress in their recovery from dissociative disorders. I have experience working with people who are diagnosed with dissociative disorders.
DBT skills training uses mindfulness, emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and distress tolerance skills training to help people improve their coping skills and ability to communicate effectively with others. I have completed trainings in DBT and have experience with this modality.
