Psychodynamic psychotherapy focuses on understanding how our past experiences contribute to our current behaviors. Clients are encouraged to talk about relationships with parents, other important people, and their childhood experiences, so as to better understand and manage both conscious and unconscious thoughts and feelings, and as a result, improve current relationships and a sense of wellbeing.
Feminist therapy is an integrative approach to psychotherapy that focuses on gender and the particular challenges and stressors that women face as a result of bias, stereotyping, oppression, discrimination, and other factors that threaten their mental health.
Somatic therapy, or body centered psychotherapy, is based on the view that the body and mind are connected, and therefore emotional, mental, and relational problems are experienced in both the mind and the body. Some issues can be linked to traumas, which are "somatised", or held in the body. These can be difficult to access through talk alone, but for some people, they are more easily reached when focusing on the body.
