About My Clients
Most of my work focuses on working with folks in the LGBTQIA spectrum to heal trauma, improve relationships, explore sex and develop a sense of wellbeing. During our initial sessions we will explore your life, your issues, and your goals to build a collaborative way forward. Throughout our work we will look to build insight and shine a light on all of the pieces that make you, you.
My Background and Approach
My goal is to "queer" the therapy space, breaking away from heteronormative tropes that leave us trying to fit into pre-determined boxes. I approach psychotherapy from a person-centered and individualistic framework. While my main orientation is psychodynamic talk therapy, I integrate use of CBT, DBT, and systems theory as appropriate. I have experience working with Queer and LGBTQIA+ folks, particularly gay men, navigating issues of belonging, sex, sexuality, relationships and gender.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe the action of therapy is achieved through the building of a safe, collaborative, and trusting relationship between client and therapist. Two people come together, with their individual identities, and construct a space to facilitate growth, change, and insight. In this space we can begin to explore experiences of trauma, relationship, conflict and intention. It is through this exploration that we can begin understand our relationship to the world. As a queer therapist, I understand the power of storytelling and the significance it holds in creating change. By openly embracing my own queerness, I hope to challenge societal norms and stereotypes, while also encouraging my clients to embrace and celebrate their authentic selves. Through a compassionate approach and a commitment to honoring our intersectional identities, I strive to create a therapeutic experience that not only promotes self-acceptance and growth, but also amplifies all voices.
