About My Clients
I work primarily with persons with a history of sexual assault and other traumas. Their issues are pervasive and complex, experiencing an array of symptoms and potential triggers such as depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, self-harm, flashbacks, intrusive thoughts, enuresis, sleep disturbance, anger, panic attacks, and more. These clients want to navigate life without fear and regain a sense of purpose and safety. Often, they want to find the will to live and quiet suicidal thoughts.
My Background and Approach
I applaud anyone who takes interest in improving their lives on any spectrum, whether their overall quality of life or to process trauma and grief. Having gone through the therapeutic process, I understand the frustration and joy, the heartbreak and breakthroughs that will occur. This experience allows me to anticipate potential areas of opportunity, such as when to push and when to support. Therapeutic work is like a dance; depending on the song sometimes I will lead and sometimes you will, but the collaboration will always remain. This work is not one size fits all, and I have multiple modalities of treating each symptom based on your unique experiences. Understanding the “why” of a condition can help get to the “how” and make it feel less daunting.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
In the mental health field, I hold several core beliefs and values impacting my clients. The right to privacy and a strict adherence to professional ethics are fundamental to me, as is corporate responsibility. I believe companies need to balance profits with community impact and well-being. The environment and my carbon footprint are also of great interest as we are the keepers of tomorrow’s world. As a proud mother of a rescue dog, I encourage others to adopt and share their love with those who need it the most. Lastly, I believe in and practice the art of patience in otherwise stressful situations. You never know what someone else is going through.
