About My Clients
I believe in Dr. Stephen Shore’s quote, “If you’ve met one person with autism, you’ve met one person with autism.” If you are looking for growth or emotional healing and have an Autism Spectrum Disorder diagnosis (ASD), or share attributes with ASD, I would love to help! I practice mindfulness-based cognitive behavioral therapy, ages 11 to 111. You can meet with me outdoors via walk and talk/outdoor seated therapy, or by traditional telehealth/in-office therapy.
My Background and Approach
I have worked with individuals on the Autism Spectrum since I taught swim lessons when I was only thirteen years old. I have a passion for working with this population, and have years of clinical experience specializing in this area in the following settings: inpatient hospital, community clinic, women's shelter, and private practice. My goal is for my clients to feel heard and respected, and to help each individual find healing, growth, and overall wellness. I began my education at Purdue University, where I graduated with Phi Betta Kappa honors and a Bachelor of Science in Psychological Sciences. Then I moved back to my Texas roots to complete graduate training at the University of North Texas, where I earned a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. In 2017, I began working in private practice, helping individuals raise their personal ceiling of success and self-esteem. I am also a member of the National Board for Certified Counselors.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Bring yourself as you are. I believe in inclusivity, being an ally to unique and diverse individuals, and endeavor to practice my therapy with non-judgement and unconditional positive regard.
