About My Clients
Is the pain of your past making it difficult to live in the present? Have you lost a sense of safety in your life? Do you struggle with getting hijacked by feelings of shame, anxiety, anger, or sadness? Are your relationships suffering and you wonder how you will ever learn to trust again? Are you a parent and feel "stuck" in how to connect with your child and set kind and firm limits that will nurture healthy development? If your answer to any of these questions is yes, then you are not alone.
My Background and Approach
As a therapist, my goal is to walk along side you in your journey to healing and transformation by helping you to recognize the purpose of behaviors, develop a non-judgmental curiosity about thoughts and beliefs you hold, and assisting you in developing skills that will help you manage emotional responses and feel safe in your body and mind. The goal of therapy is to increase feelings of belonging and self-acceptance. I use a variety of approaches to help accomplish this goal including interpersonal dialogue, skills training, mindfulness based stress reduction, and trauma informed yoga.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
The name Grounded Resilience comes from my personal and professional theory of wellness. I believe that when we are able to be fully present and authentic with ourselves and others we are better able to adapt in the face of adversity. When we experience physical or emotional stress it impacts our minds and bodies together, often creating enduring beliefs about our inferiority and a lasting imprint on our muscles that can contribute to medical illnesses and lower our immune systems ability to fight off infection. By intervening on multiple levels we can develop a sense of purpose and meaning through uncovering the story our bodies are holding onto, experiencing belonging through the encouragement of others in our social environment, and empowering others to do the same.
