About My Clients
I help anxious, perfectionists find contentment and renewed joy through self-acceptance. I have found perfection and anxiety to be two sides of the same coin. When you feel anxious, you're more likely to demand perfection from yourself, and when you demand perfection, I guarantee anxiety is knocking at your door. Through evidence-based, compassionate care, we will work toward loosening the grip of perfection, decreasing your anxiety levels, and get you back to living a values-based life.
My Background and Approach
I believe the most successful therapy is tailored to meet the individual needs of clients. No matter the presenting concern of my client, the therapeutic relationship will always be a top priority, and the personal goals of my clients are considered when developing treatment strategies and goals. You will always have a voice in this process. Since becoming a therapist, I have pursued training in evidence-based modalities for treating anxiety disorders and couples. For those seeking couples counseling, I utilize Emotionally-Focused Therapy and Gottman approaches to get you back to feeling emotionally safe with your partner and communicating effectively. For those suffering the paralyzing symptoms of anxiety, perfectionism, and OCD, I use a combination of evidence-based practices: Acceptance-Commitment Therapy, Exposure-Response Prevention, and Emotionally-Focused Therapy. In effort to make mental and relational health skills more accessible, I also offer online, on-demand courses.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
The foundation of my practice is the goal of getting you back to living in accordance with your values. This largely influences my way of being in the world, and I believe when we live in our values, we live fuller lives As an OCD specialist, I am passionate about my clients finally receiving proper diagnoses and treatment. The average time for someone with OCD to receive effective treatment is 17 years, and through my advocacy work, as well as the other amazing OCD specialists, I hope to start decreasing this statistic. And because of the impact OCD has on family members, I offer a support group in order to improve the entire system that has been impacted by OCD. As a military spouse, I am passionate about serving the military community, specifically through strengthening military engagements and marriages. As one half of an interracial couple, I am greatly supportive of the racial equality movement and strive to be aware of my white privilege.
