About My Clients

Some of my clients are working toward feeling more connected in their relationships. Some are working to heal from traumas of the past. Most are looking for an expert therapist, who having tried multiple therapists, need a more comprehensive, philosophically grounded, deeper, and richer experience of self-exploration and healing. My goal is for my clients to experience a connection they may have never felt that helps them build insight, understanding, and the courage and power to heal and grow.

My Background and Approach

I am the gay son of a Pentecostal minister from the southern United States. Sixteen years ago, I went to seminary, briefly, to try and learn how to submit my sexuality to god. Thankfully, that experiment failed, and I came out as a gay man and, eventually, an atheist. Since that time, I have dedicated my life to helping others who struggle to be who they are, who are coming out of oppression or continue to suffer in it, and who need a caring heart to warm their hurt. Now, as an AASECT certified sex therapist and religious control survivor, I am trained to use a variety of modalities in the service of connecting to the humans who choose to work with me, to reduce suffering, and create change. I have over 13 years of experience working with people from all over the world. In those years, I have learned so much about what it means to be human, how our differences define us, how privilege and power affect psychotherapy, and how our shared humanity brings us together.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I am a humanist. I believe in the power of human connection. I also believe in psychotherapy's ability to facilitate powerful experiences of and confrontations with the human condition, giving you permission to be yourself without fear of judgement to help you better understand and react to your and your partner's humanity with compassion and love. My approach is rooted in humanistic principles that emphasize the deep logic of emotion, the central roles of love and connection, and the indomitable potential of the human spirit. I fervently read about philosophy, religion, and politics. I play video games like Path of Exile, and I long for a community united by humanistic principles. I believe that Black Lives Matter, and my heart yearns for justice for all. I am privileged to work with many Black, Latine, and Asian clients, and I am committed to continuing to learn about their experience. I offer a free 15-minute consult to make sure we're the right fit. Call me anytime.
