About My Clients
My clients are often women struggling with challenges during the reproductive years, trauma and relationships. Focus areas include infertility & loss; single women childless not by choice; LGBT family building; pregnancy & postpartum. When women first reach out to me, they're often overwhelmed. Life looks good on paper, but it's a different story on the inside. The stress gets in the way of the life they want in so many ways - at home, at work, and in their relationships.
My Background and Approach
I specialize in women’s mental health across the lifespan, with a focus on the reproductive years, relationships, and trauma. My more than 20 years of experience includes: Program Director for Women's Mental Health at the San Francisco VA Medical Center; National Trainer for VA Interpersonal Psychotherapy Training Program; UCSF Associate Clinical Professor; teaching psychotherapy to UCSF psychiatry and licensed clinicians across the country, and receiving multiple teaching awards. I'm a Certified Perinatal Mental Health Provider (PMH-C) and have advanced training in evidence-based treatments, including Interpersonal Psychotherapy for depression and perinatal mood disorders, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Prolonged Exposure for PTSD. I also have specialized training in psychodynamic therapy, infant-parent psychotherapy and mindfulness interventions. I’m passionate about helping women navigate their way through life stressors with high-quality, trauma-informed care.
