Body image issues are actually self-esteem issues. When we derive our self-concept from anything other than our internal and authentic self, it is often a detriment to our self-esteem. I believe in body-neutrality and use an approach to explore body-image issues starting from their core.
I have worked in the field of eating disorders for most of my career. I am familiar with and have supported clients in all levels of care, and am trained in and utilize the outpatient Family Based Treatment model for adolescents. I offer a unique perspective that includes the belief that full recovery from an eating disorder is possible.
I have years of experience working alongside adolescents and families in learning how to manage emotions, overcome anxiety and depression, process the impact of school stress, overcome an eating disorder, learn and apply coping skills, and practice boundaries. I validate the difficulty in being a teenager while also assist in processing and exploring individual values and identity.
