As a member of the LGBTQ+ community I understand the importance of belonging and the unique situations we as individuals face, although the differ drastically from person to person. It is important to feel understood and heard, I want to hear you.
Gender is fluid for some and more set for others. It is more than how we present to others but how we feel in ourselves. It is often complicated and honoring who we are with the challenges to confirm to the binary can be complicated yet there is no greater feeling than living in our truth.
I have spent almost a decade working with adolescents struggling with mental health and substance use disorders. I recently took a year and a half to tour the country visiting residential, transitional and outpatient treatment centers to best be able to help adolescents who may be transitioning to a higher level of care or returning home.
The most important aspect of therapy is truly connecting and understanding that each individual is unique and this needs to be honored. The individual lived experience is the central focus of our work.
I am trained in comprehensive DBT and worked in a comprehensive DBT outpatient program where all aspects of the model were integrated— individual therapy, group skills, coaching and consultation.
I am trained in level I and II of brainspotting and am in the process of obtaining certification.
